Ugh.

It's been 4 hours and I'm still sick to my stomach over Jim Joyce's call that robbed Armando Galarraga of a perfect game. What a shame. He was this close to completing only the 21st perfect game in Major League history and stamping his name in the annals of baseball lore. And by this close I mean, he did it. He pitched a perfect game. Donald was clearly out. By more than a step. I really hope MLB steps in in some way to remedy the situation. Just because Joyce made the "safe" call doesn't automatically mean it's set in stone, right? No? This sucks.

I’m still not over it and its been 2 days! I feel bad for both Galarraga and Joyce. Joyce got very emotional during pre-game lineup card exchange. Galarraga came out and handed him the Tigers lineup card and he immediately started to cry. It’s a shame that Joyce will go down in history as the UMP who blew the perfect game off a bad call because he is one of the better UMPS in baseball today. He was voted as the 2nd best UMP in baseball twice in his career and UMPED 2 WORLD SERIES, including a few LDS’s and LCS’s. However, Joyce should have realized the situation and even if it was a tie to 1st base he shoulda called the runner out in that situation. Even the hitter who was called safe at first immediately put his hands on his head after he was called safe because he knew he was out. This call could be the call that brings instant replay reviews into baseball.
